Triangle Quilt Top ~ A Flimsy Finish

One Patch Quilts are fun to make, with just one shape and a good array of fabrics, you can make a unique quilt that comes together quickly.

After making this quilt in 2014, I was left with a bunch of scraps, I decided to put them to good use and make another quilt for my husband, a lap size this time.

You can see on the back of the quilt top that some units were pieced together to get full triangles; it's barely noticeable on the front. That allowed me to use as much as I could out of the scraps.

If interested, this is the acrylic template I used to cut my triangles; I love the proportion on this one, the size is perfect for showing off larger prints. There are also many tutorials available online that explains how to cut isosceles triangles, but as a personal preference, it's just easier with templates especially when working with scraps.

Quilty365 ~ A finished quilt top

After making a circle a day this past year, I now have a finished quilt top!!

It was exciting but also a bit tiresome at times (especially towards the end) but I'm so so glad I finished it. This quilt features a mix of different fabrics from my scrap bin but for the most part from my stash, (there might be a few repeats, but that's ok).
There was no rules, just the fabric that I was drawn to that day and then hoping it would all come together beautifully in the end. I used three different shades of reds as background, lighter in the center to darker on the outside. I rounded up my circles at 380 to get the design I wanted. I'm pleased the way it turned out so far. Now I have to decide how to quilt it!

Sadly I missed the last Quilty365 link-up but, this quilt will be finished by May 1st for the last link-up with Audrey. It was a fun Quilt-Along, I enjoyed it very much, it seems like I started yesterday! Many thanks to Audrey at Quilty Folk for hosting this fun quilt along, I think it's fair to say that it was a success; I love my quilt! So, if you are interested in making one, Leanne at Daisy and Jack Handmade is taking over and will be hosting the Quilty365 this year.

Wishing you all a wonderful year!!

FAL 2017 - 1st Quarter List

2016 wasn't a good year to complete projects, but I hopefully 2017 will be more rewarding. So, let's give this another try! Time to make room for new projects!!

1. Triangle Quilt
A quilt I started a while back with scraps from the Man Quilt I made a few years ago for my husband. I am currently piecing this one.

2. AMH Nine Patch
Another quilt I started a few years ago, greatly inspired by Katy Jones St-Louis Sixteen Patch. This one in currently the oldest unfinished project in queue; it would feel good to finish this one.

3. Quilty365
I just completed the top and it's now ready to be quilted and bound.

4. Christmas Trip Around the World

5. Scrappy Courthouse Step

That is it, for now, plenty to keep me busy for the next four months.
